Staff at Tregolls

Mrs Lara Jeffries
Headteacher
This is my third Headship and I really do love being Headteacher at Tregolls! Being part of such a thriving community based school, with the well being and achievements of children at the heart of all we do is an absolute honor.
I was bought up in Cornwall (far too many years ago) but moved away to Warwickshire 17 years ago - being home is magical! My husband has a web development company and both our children are all grown up and live in London and Paris. I have a delightful old cat called Willow, whom I love dearly!
I was, and still am, a passionate teacher... I loved teaching and was pretty good at; within 6 years I became Acting Headteacher of the school I started working at as a Teaching Assistant (a job I have full admiration for and value hugely!) My second Headship was of a brand new school and involved setting it up from scratch...from finalising the build project, to recruiting the whole staff, creating a curriculum to teach and ordering everything a school needs, from toilet rolls to furniture, pens, paper, books etc etc etc. It was fantastic challenge.
Now I am Headteacher of Tregolls; a school I was very quickly immensely proud to be part of. I am looking forward to the adventures we have together and the journey we take.

Miss Rhiannon Whitehouse
Yr 6 teacher KS2 / Maths Lead
I have been teaching at Tregolls since qualifying from Plymouth University 5 years ago. After teaching in years 4, 5 and 6, I am now delighted to be leading the fabulous Key Stage 2 team. I support year 6 children with their transitions to secondary school and I specialise in Maths and Computing. I have been lucky enough to travel to Spain, Germany and Italy with Tregolls and I have loved to see the children’s independence grow as they explore a new country with their friends. Outside of school, I love to go on long walks with Hugo, my cheeky French Bulldog, go to the beach and spend time with my friends and family.

I grew up in Birmingham and taught in Liverpool and Manchester before settling in Cornwall in 2004 when I started work at Tregolls.
For the last 13 years I’ve been the Nursery Teacher here which has been a very rewarding and thoroughly enjoyable experience. Our Nursery is an integral part of the school and the children are a joy to work with – always so keen to learn and full of fun !
When I’m not at school I enjoy eating spicy food, watching films, listening to music, walking the coast paths and spending long (and hopefully sunny) days on the beach with my family and friends !

Ms Megan Trewartha
Reception Teacher
-
Ms Emma Warner
Yr 1 teacher
I have been teaching in Cornwall since I qualified in 2009. I joined the wonderful Tregolls team in 2012 and have loved the teaching journey I have been on with the school. I have taught both year 1 and 2 in my time at Tregolls and love seeing how children's confidence grows as they learn and develop their independence. I am a speech and language specialist and support staff in providing the best possible support and interventions for children.
Out of school I love to read, bake, grow vegetables and spend time with my husband and two young children.
-
Ms Lauren Evans
Yr 1 teacher
I joined the Tregolls team in 2018, just after completing my teacher training at Plymouth University. My teaching experience is within KS1, this year being in Year 1, which I thoroughly enjoy. At this age, the children have such curious and excitable minds which makes teaching the pleasurable and rewarding experience I had hoped it would be. I don’t go a day without the children putting a smile on my face!
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, especially when it involves eating (lots of) food or having cuddles with my gorgeous baby niece! I love exploring Cornwall and the beautiful beaches it has to offer.

Mr Stephen Anderson
Yr 2/3 teacher
-
Ms Sarah Scott
Yr 4 teacher
I started my career working as the Education Officer for the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and quickly realised that teaching was where I wanted to be. Now, 29 years later, I have never regretted that move and have felt that my time at Tregolls (since 2011) has been the best teaching experience I have had – we are such a committed and supportive team and the children are so enthusiastic.
Out of work, I love to sing in a choir, walk the coast path every weekend, bodyboard and travel with my partner in our vintage campervan.
-
Ms Heather Hatch
Yr 4/5 teacher
I have been a KS2 teacher at Tregolls since 2014. I love working with this great team of people every day. The pupils at our school are fantastic. I feel very fortunate to work at such an inspiring and caring school! My favourite subjects to teach are English, history, science and art- and I love to share these passions with my class.
-
Mrs Beth Hancock
Yr 5 teacher
After qualifying in 2012, I taught in London for two and a half years before I moved back to Cornwall in 2015. I'm Cornish through and through and love being home as my happy place is by the sea!
I have taught across Key Stage 1 and 2, but have spent the last 5 years teaching years 5 and 6, which I love! I was delighted to join the Tregolls team in September 2019 and really enjoy supporting children in recognising what they're capable of. It's all about mindset!
I have a particular interest in promoting well-being and positive mental health, and I also specialise in Maths and Languages.
When I'm not teaching, my favourite things to do are: drink tea; swim in the sea; and go for long beach walks with my husband, Dan, and our cheeky Patterdale Terriers, Jax and Brae.

Hello everyone , I have worked in the EYFS since february 2019 and I thoroughly enjoy it . I have worked in childcare for 19 years but Tregolls is my first school setting , and couldn't see myself doing anything else .It makes me happy to see how the children grow and bloom on their own learning adventures .
In my own personal time I like to go to a gym that is mainly crossfit , which challenges your mental strength to push yourself to your next limit . I also enjoy the cornish countryside and relish walking on the beach with my children and partner .
