Pupil Premium Funding
Tregolls was crowned South West Champion at the 2017 Pupil Premium Awards.
What is Pupil premium?
You may have heard of funding called the ‘Pupil Premium’. This is money delagated from the central Government to schools, based on a number of measures. These measures include eligibility for Free School Meals in the last 6 years, children whose parents are in the Armed Forces and children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months.
How do we compare nationally?
The national figure for pupils eligible for pupil premium per school is on average 22.6%, our school context is on average that 58% of our children are currently eligible for pupil premium.
At our school, we spend our pupil premium funding, on ensuring that EVERY child makes at least expected or better progress. We monitor targeted intervention closely, ensuring that they are effective and that pupils make the additional progress they need (if required) to make in order to catch up with pupils who are deemed not to be disadvantaged. This year alone we have supported pupils in following their dreams to achieve, including one pupil being selected for a scholarship at the prestigious Royal Ballet School in London, one pupil is now the current British Judo School’s champion and another European Bronze medallist. None of this would have been possible if it was not for the pupil premium funding support.
Planned spending 2017/18
Language skills have improved significantly in reception with boys now exceeding girls. We wish to build upon this success and place an even greater focus on improving the language skills of ALL reception and KS1 pupils so that the barrier is diminished. Disadvantaged children at the end of KS2 exceeded the national average in reading and writing. We wish to also exceed the national average in maths like in reading in writing. The attainment gap between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged pupils at the end of KS2 has continued to diminish. Therefore, we will now focus on having the same success at the end of KS1. The mental health and wellbeing of pupils’ is paramount therefore we will ensure that the needs of all pupils are met and supported through challenging periods of their lives. Parental engagement has improved significantly, therefore, we will continue our relentless approach to ensure every parent is provided support in order to be able to help their child’s learning.
