Life Ready, Live Happy
At Tregolls, we prepare our children to be Life Ready and support them to Live Happy.
We build a community at Tregolls, both inside the school and outside the school, where children are more than just academically educated and where all feel safe and supported. They will be empowered to change their own lives and the lives of those around them. They will be able to stand up and become role models and change makers within their community and beyond, making a difference. We will develop empathy and understanding of wider global issues. We will provide aspiration through the opportunities we offer, developing cultural capital – widening our children’s experiences of the world around them, locally and globally. We will expose our children to culture and literature. We will prepare them for a world where technology is a gateway to social change and mobility. We will be good role models who inspire through a love of learning and be motivated to make a positive impact on each other’s lives. Together, we will continually strive to remove the barriers to success and fear of failure. Our school will take pride in leading the children on their journey – both on their educational path and for life; enabling them to drive their own futures to greater success and shape our community and the wider world for the better. Children at Tregolls understand that our one word school rule "respect" runs through every aspect of school life, the wider world and their relationships with one another.
We are proud of how we focus on personal development and well-being alongside academic achievement. Our coherent and progressive curriculum is underpinned by our desire to provide a holistic and relevant education for your child.
Tregolls School, an Academy Statement
We at Tregolls School, an Academy are issuing a statement that rejects racism in all forms, reflects on what we have done so far and looks to the future as to how we will do more.
As a school, and in support of the principles behind the Black Lives Matter movement, we recognise we have a role to play in sending a message that racism in all its forms can never be tolerated. Overt and covert racism exists and persists in society and we intend to play our part as best we can in changing this. To stand against racism means that all members of our community must be confident and bold enough to challenge racism and that we also continue to reflect on our own actions and behaviours.
We:
· Do not tolerate racism
· Adopt and act on anti-racist policies that form part of our school rule of "Respect"
· Encourage all members of our community to discuss ways we can eradicate racism
· Promote listening, reasoned engagement, and positive action in response to injustice, while condemning aggression and violence in all its forms
· Are an Equal Opportunities employer and do not tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment in our workplace
We will:
· Consider ways in which we can further educate our community so that its members are empowered to act against racism
· Engage further with those inside and beyond our community to understand their views and those of others on this topic
· Consider how we can amend our approach to further reflect our support for eradicating racial injustice
We ask all in our community to join us in challenging racism and holding ourselves and others to account. Our ethos of "Life Ready, Live Happy" and our one word school rule of "Respect" encompass all of the above aims and objectives.
We are reviewing our curriculum and I am working with the council on developing resources to support the teaching of Black history in Cornwall.
