Launch Day.

Well it’s been the most amazing first day back and thanks to our friends at Little Kitchen Magicians we have been chefs for the day. We have been learning about local Cornish ingredients and using them to make the most delicious food. We made a Cornish soup using locally grown vegetables, fish goujons – using locally caught Hake along with some potato wedges and made our own tartar sauce. We then made beef burgers using locally sourced beef, a coleslaw (again using locally grown vegetables) and to finish off some Cornish Fairings. What a busy day!

The children were all enthusiastic and all of them tried everything and found some new foods that they liked.

Think we have some budding chefs in our midst’s. Well done Camel class a super first day back.

Launch Day

For our launch day, the children investigated a mysterious animal that had been in the classrooms.  We received a letter from an explorer who explained that a jaguar had escaped and was last spotted on the field at Tregolls Academy! The children became detectives, taking part in a search for the missing jaguar. We didn’t manage to find it, however, we did spot some areas it could have been…and some children thought they heard it growling!

We also investigated some animal poo, trying to figure out which animal it belonged to…it was a messy job! Then the children designed and made rain shakers which they will be using to recreate the sounds of the rainforest in music lessons. In the afternoon, the children watched a classic Disney film, The Jungle Book or Tarzan, to support during a discussion about the type of animals found in the rainforest.

Welcome back!

We hope you have had a lovely summer break and enjoyed what was left of the sunny weather. We can’t wait to start a new learning adventure together.

This term the children wanted to learn about Rainforests. We will be learning about where rainforests are located, their climate, wildlife, food and how we can help to stop them being destroyed.

We will be launching our new topic on Monday 10th September. We would like to invite the children to bring in a toy animal on this day. They will be participating in many different activities to enthuse and introduce them to their new project

There are several trips planned, which we will give you more details about nearer to the time.

PE days and Kit

Camel: Wednesday
Mylor: Thursday

Please can you ensure that your child has a t-shirt, shorts and PE shoes in school for this session.  I find the best way for remembering this is putting it in a separate bag that remains on your child’s peg until each half term holiday. Girls must have their hair tied up for PE.

Home learning

Home learning will now be sent out on the day your children receive their new spellings. Mylor class will receive their home learning and spellings on a Tuesday. Please can home learning be back in by Friday.

Camel class will receive their home learning and new spellings on a Friday, so please can home learning be back in on a Tuesday.

Spellings will continue to be tested each Friday in Camel class and on Tuesday in Mylor, new spellings will be sent home in their books.  Please practice these spellings with your child and play fun games to help them learn how to spell. Please ensure their spelling book is in on a Friday so that new spellings can be sent home.

Please ensure your child brings their reading diaries and book to school every day. We will be listening to children read and this won’t be possible if they have no book. Please also ensure that you sign in their diary when they have finished reading their book, so that we can give them a new one to take home.

We are looking forward to sharing our fantastic learning with you!
